About us
How did this all start: The idea first came from Julian, when attending a meeting about allotments in Cork, he could not believe that there was no website that covered the subject in Ireland. Maire and Thomas had already discovered how difficult it was to find information on allotments while searching for one themselves. At the end of the meeting Maire volunteered Thomas as an able person to build a website, from there IrishAllotments.net grew!
.
What is the aim of the website: We hope to provide information for allotment seekers, allotmenteers, community groups and land owners hoping to start allotments alike. The aim is to facilitate the growth in interest of allotments around the country.
.
Where we hope to go: In the long run we would like the site to become a large community of growers and other interested parties, we also hope to offer much more information about starting allotments for community groups and land owners as well as gardening tips.
.
At the moment both Thomas and Julian are Cork based limiting our ability to cover the whole country, we also both have full time jobs and only work on the website in our spare time meaning the progression of our goals may not be as rapid as we would like. We would gratefully accept any help and/or information people would like to add to the website.
.
Thanks for the interest and we hope you get as much enjoyment from the website as we do.
Thomas, Máire & Julian
